Online shopping revenues to boom
With access to impressive broadband speeds many people in the UK are now keen to make purchases online, and this could see online shopping revenues boom over the coming years.
With more and more households in the UK having access to broadband services these days making purchases online has become increasingly popular, and one recent report has suggested that consumers in Britain are becoming more and more comfortable when it comes to doing their shopping online. People make all sorts of purchases online these days, ranging from groceries and household goods to furniture, clothes, entertainment, and much more.
A study was recently carried out by the online marketplace eBay and officials from the group have suggested that online shopping is becoming so popular that by 2020 around fifty percent of new retail ventures will be operating online. It is also thought that there could be an increase of a massive forty six billion pounds in online sales revenues by 2020, whilst the level of High Street sales is set to fall by seven percent as more and more people switch to online shopping.
There are many reasons why people decide to opt for online shopping. The excellent choice of products and services is one of the reasons why people choose to shop online, and another major reason is the great prices that you can get online, as retailers can afford to charge less than the High Street because they have fewer overheads. The ease and convenience of shopping online is another major factor, as many like to browse, compare, and purchase products from the comfort of their own home.
One woman who operates an online retail company said: ‘The last year has been extremely good even through the recession. Our toys are traditional and we offer quality and fantastic service and I think people are prepared to pay slightly more for good quality toys that don’t fall apart within minutes.’ She also said: ‘We stand out because we put the hours in. Even at home I never switch off. We also have excellent customer service and respond very quickly to emails and phone calls.’
