Online sales continue to increase
Figures have shown that broadband and internet users in the UK are continuing to embrace online shopping, with internet sales increasing by twenty five percent.

Over recent years more and more people with broadband and internet access have swapped the hassle and inconvenience of heading out to make purchases for online shopping, which is hassle free, saves time, and can be done from the comfort and privacy of your own home at any time that suits you.
In fact, it appears that more and more people are embracing online shopping, with figures showing that online sales transactions in the UK have increased by twenty five percent. Data was released by the Office for National Statistics, which showed that online sales transactions in the UK hit £408 billion in value in 2009.
Compared to 2008 this figure reflected an increase of twenty five percent, with more and more people realising that they can get great choice, excellent value for money, and increased convenience by shopping online. With Christmas fast approaching many more are likely to be getting out their credit cards and preparing to surf the Internet to pick up some Christmas gift bargains.
The ONS compiled the figures through research and data with companies that had more than ten employees. The data showed that seventy six percent of these had a website, but only 14.9 percent sold goods through it. Almost fifty two percent used online networks to make online purchases, which reflected an increase from thirty three percent in 2008.
Last year saw a severe cold snap in terms of weather, which may have driven many shoppers online rather than braving the weather and heading to the shops. If the same weather conditions hit the UK this year this could further increase the level of online sales activity.
