Online customers get better energy prices
A recent study has shown that online energy customers are able to get far better prices on their energy bills than customers that are not on online tariffs

It has been known for some time that people that have access to broadband and internet are able to get better deals on various services and products, as they are able to browse and compare services more easily, find the best prices more quickly, and even get special deals and tariffs that are not available to customers that are not online.
This has now been proven following a survey that showed online energy customers are getting better deals than those with energy that isn’t through an online deal. The study was carried out by comparison giant uswitch.com, which found that on average consumer who had online energy deals were savings £140 a year compared to those that did not.
The average cost of heating and hot water bills for customers with online tariffs was found to be £616 a year, whereas for those that did not have online tariffs the average cost was £756 a year. Despite this much lower cost a huge number of people are failing to benefit from online tariffs, with only 10 percent found to be on an online energy plan.
An expert from uswitch.com said: “When winter fuel bills start to hit doormats consumers could be in for a nasty shock. They will be facing the combined impact of winter price rises along with a potential £7 a week additional cost caused by severe cold weather. The concern is that many will react by cutting down on heating and hot water which will severely impact their quality of life whereas they could cut the cost of these essentials by £140 a year by moving online.”
