A digital roadshow that is to take place in Nottingham the week aims to promote next generation broadband and online best practice for both citizens and to stimulate the growth of businesses.

This week will see Nottingham become the venue for a digital roadshow, which aims to promote next generation broadband and online best practice, with a goal to stimulating business growth and looking at best practice from a single citizen point of view. Connected Nottingham has joined forces with the Community Broadband Network (CBN) as the council prepares to implement the findings of the government’s Digital Britain Report.

The Nottingham digital roadshow that is held this week will be the first of a number of similar roadshows that are set to take place all around the country. An official from Connected Nottingham said that authorities were prioritising on the delivery of high speed broadband to businesses to help to improve best practice online and increase competition, which could help to stimulate business growth.

He said: “We are extremely pleased to host a roadshow on next generation access. Nottingham is working very hard on bringing high speed broadband to businesses and the community. The interim Digital Britain Report sets out some clear objectives and during the event we will showcase our latest plans for the city and the region, and explain the wider economic benefits.”

The Chief Executive of CBN, Malcolm Corbett, commented: “Next generation broadband … will benefit businesses, consumers and the economy as a whole. It can stimulate inward investment and innovation, lead to education growth and enable skill retention.”

In January of this year the government’s Digital Britain Report was released, and the report contained information to help improve online best practice and maintain competition. The Digital Britain Report included twenty recommendations that were aimed at improving online best practice.
