No startup costs for SMEs investing in UC

A recent report from an industry expert has advised that small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that invest in unified communications (UC) systems could get out of paying out for excessive start-up charges.

The use of integrated solutions for combined email and VoIP hardware facilities would be far simpler for companies according to the managing director of CommuniGate System UK, Simon Patel, in his contribution to the National Computing Centre’s membership website.

Using hosted services could also access these resources and help them to get through the current economic climate by avoiding substantial spending costs.

“While the high price tag associated with deploying a UC solution has deterred many SMEs until now, the reduction in broadband connectivity costs enables organisations to implement UC as a hosted service,” said Mr Paton.

Setting up more flexible working conditions and allowing business to work from remote locations if they wish to can be achieved by using UC systems he said.

The overall benefits of using UC solution now far outweigh the costs of the service and can offer new SMEs both short term and long term benefits that will make riding out the current global financial situation a lot simpler.

It was also reported by a popular broadband news site that trains and the public transport infrastructure could soon also be offer both business and standard commuters VoIP services as part of an up-coming broadband rollout project.

Many of these new services and facilities that are being implemented by both the government and the private sector are part of plans to help make the industry in the UK more profitable and to make it easier for new business to start up with lower outlays and more chance of surviving in their sector in the short term.
