It has been revealed in a recent study that the majority of consumers in Northern Ireland are either fairly satisfied or very satisfied with the broadband speeds that they are getting.

Broadband speeds have become an important issue for most people these days, as the internet is used for so many different purposes these days, with many of the things that we use this technology for demanding higher speeds, such as online gaming and streaming content. There are many people around the UK that are unhappy with the speeds that they get from their broadband providers but according to recent reports this is not an issue for most broadband users in Northern Ireland.

A recent study has revealed that the majority of consumers in Northern Ireland are generally happy with their broadband speeds. The research was conducted by the UK communications regulator Ofcom and showed that eighty three percent of broadband users in Northern Ireland were either fairly satisfied or very satisfied with their broadband speeds.

In 2010 the level of satisfaction stood at seventy percent, which means that there has been a sharp rise in satisfaction levels with broadband speeds. It is thought that recent upgrades to infrastructure have played a part in the increased satisfaction levels amongst users in the area with Northern Ireland now having the greatest fibre broadband coverage of any country in the UK.

An Ofcom official said: “Over the last five years we have caught up, and in some cases overtaken, the rest of the UK in the use of the latest communications services.”

Do you believe that broadband speeds and service have improved in Northern Ireland since last year?
