It has been claimed recently that continued improvement in the broadband infrastructure in the UK could help to encourage new internet users to get online.

This week marked the start of Get Online Week in the UK, and the purpose of the event was to encourage millions of Brits to get to grips with basic computer skills and start getting online to enjoy the many benefits and opportunities that the Internet can offer. The woman behind the drive is the government’s digital champion Martha Lane Fox, who aims to get the whole country to get more involved in online activities.

Fox is aiming to get everyone online by 2012, and has spent time outlining the many benefits of the internet, including social benefits, entertainment opportunities, and financial benefits. She stated: “Getting people to engage with the internet is not only a weapon against poverty – it’s a fundamental skill that everyone needs to have if they are to get the same opportunities as those who use the internet every day.”

The Internet infrastructure in the UK has improved in the UK and plans are in place for continued improvement. Officials have now said that continued improvement in broadband technology in the UK could help to encourage more new users to get online, thus increasing the success of any initiatives aimed at encouraging non-internet users to get online.

One of the areas where the most improvement has been seen is in the mobile broadband market according to reports, and mobile broadband quality is said to have improved by an impressive forty four percent since 2008.
