MyGov dashboard to be introduced for consumers
In a recent speech about the future of high speed broadband under the Labour government the Prime Minister Gordon Brown has revealed that a MyGov dashboard is to be introduced for use by consumers.
With so many people now with broadband connections there are many of us that now use the Internet to access various services and it appears that this is something that the Labour government has picked up on. This was reflected in a recent speech that was made by the Prime Minister Gordon Brown in the run up to the general election, where he spoke about the future of high speed broadband under the Labour government.
As part of his speech Brown also spoke about the MyGov dashboard that is to be introduced for the use of consumers. The Prime Minister said that the dashboard would give consumers more scope and ability to shape their own futures and access the vast range of government services that are now being launched and made available through the Internet.
The new dashboard is expected to replace the current DirectGov website, and should encompass a far wider range of services that consumers may access and use online. The government hopes that through the implementation of universal broadband and an increase in broadband speeds more people will start accessing these services online, which will provide them with greater control and flexibility.
Amongst the things that Gordon Brown said would be available on the new MyGov dashboard were facilities to manage pensions, pay council tax, manage benefits such as child benefit and tax credits, apply for schools, contact teachers, and even arrange doctor’s and hospital appointments.
