MP increases pressure for better broadband connections in North Yorkshire
An MP has decided to increase the pressure by stepping up his campaign to get better broadband connections put into place across North Yorkshire.
According to reports an MP has decided to turn up the heat with his campaign to get better broadband connections across North Yorkshire. Julian Smith, a Skipton MP, has said that broadband in rural areas has to be improved and has announced his plans and proposed measures to help ensure that this happens across North Yorkshire.
Smith said that there were plans for a conference to be held next year, and this would help to bring together communities, businesses, telecommunications companies, and others that would be involved in or affected by broadband services.
Smith explained why he had decided to turn up the pressure when it came to his campaign. He stated: “Connecting communities in North Yorkshire that currently can’t receive broadband, or who don’t receive connections at a good speed, has the potential to create thousands of jobs in the county. That is why I am stepping up my campaign.”
He added: “Having a high speed, quality broadband connection is no longer a luxury but something essential for day-to-day life. With more and more focus on offering services online I am concerned communities in rural areas could be unable to access these services. The aim of this campaign is to make sure North Yorkshire’s residents and businesses can join the information superhighway.”
Consumers are able to go online and express their interest in the campaign to express their views, or to put their names down to attend the conference, and this can be done at www.broadbandnorthyorkshire.com
