MP backs Home Access Programme
An MP has recently given her support for the Home Access Programme, which would see some households getting free laptops and broadband access.
It has been reported that one MP has been giving her backing to the Home Access Scheme that would see some households getting access to free laptops and internet access as part of a government scheme. Watford MP Claire Ward is said to be keen to see the scheme put into place, and is now trying to get parents to look into whether they might be eligible for the programme.
Ward stated that many families could take advantage of the programme, and could benefit from the free laptops and broadband access that is available through the scheme. She stated: “Computers are no longer a luxury for the few, but these days are just as essential a part of education as books, pens and paper.”
She added: “It will give children the opportunity to do coursework and research on the internet – helping children succeed in school and get the skills they need to get good jobs in the future. It will also help parents get more involved in their child’s education, develop new skills and apply for jobs online.”
It is thought that the availability of broadband and laptop access for households that would otherwise struggle to get online would mean that a greater number of households would be able to benefit from the perks that come with broadband access and access to a laptop.
