According to the results of recent research many mothers across the UK are taking advantage of broadband services by using the technology to help them to run the home more effectively. The research showed that internet access has become crucial in helping mothers to run their households more effectively.
The research was carried out by media agency SAP, and showed that over sixty percent of mothers used the Internet to carry out a range of household tasks such as getting the shopping done online. The study was carried out on behalf of Microsoft Advertising, and the results showed that the Internet had become crucial for the running of the average family home, with access being utilised for all sorts of purposes.
Around sixty six percent of mothers used their broadband service to go online and research or buy products for their children or babies, which indicates that many mothers use the Internet as a reliable source of information even when it comes to something as important as their babies and children.
Many mothers have also been going online to keep in touch with friends and loved ones, with around seventy four percent of mothers using the Internet to email friends and family. Sixty two percent of mothers used the internet for social networking sites, also enabling them to keep in touch with friends.
Around fifty six percent of mothers have used the internet to watch television shows online, and many use their broadband connections for entertainment purposes. Microsoft Advertising said that the Internet “has become more ingrained within [mothers'] everyday lives”.
