Most businesses hooked up to broadband

A study that has been carried out recently has shown that the vast majority of businesses are now hooked up to broadband, with nine out of ten companies now having a business broadband connection.

According to the results of a recent study the majority of businesses now have access to a business broadband connection. The study was carried out by the Office for National Statistics, and the results of the study showed that nearly ninety percent of businesses had a business broadband connection.

The companies that were polled as part of the survey did not include any companies with fewer than ten employees. In total eighty seven percent of companies that were polled used a broadband connection to get online. There are also other companies – equating to four percent – that access the internet via non-broadband technology.

Out of the businesses that did use broadband to get online nearly thirty seven percent were using mobile broadband dongles to access mobile broadband services. The popularity of broadband amongst businesses has sparked concern from many officials because there are businesses that have little or no access to broadband, which can prove to be detrimental. There are many benefits for businesses that have adequate access to broadband, but there are many in rural areas that do not have the access that they need.

One industry official said: “All manner of businesses can use what is known more prosaically as next-generation broadband to create new opportunities for themselves, regardless of where they are located.”
