More sophisticated methods being used by cyber criminals
A recent report has shown that the number of cyber attacks being experienced by businesses with broadband is increasing, and the methods used by cyber criminals have become even more sophisticated.
It has been claimed in a recent report that many businesses in the UK are now experiencing cyber attacks by criminals, and the rising reliance of businesses on their broadband services means that this type of criminal activity is becoming increasingly rife. The report claims that seventy five percent of businesses around the world have not suffered a cyber attack in the past twelve months, and nearly thirty percent had said that this type of crime had increased over that period.
The report came from Symantec, and a separate report from Deloitte claims that cyber criminals are growing increasingly sophisticated in terms of the methods that they use to commit their crimes, and are even staying a step ahead of security experts, which is putting businesses at great risk.
Officials have said that the businesses that are most at risk are small and medium sized businesses, and this is because they don’t tend to have highly sophisticated security systems and teams in place whereas the larger businesses and corporations can afford to have more stringent security in place. One industry official said: Criminals are getting more and more sophisticated with the attacks they are sending. Small and medium companies, mainly, are the ones that are most in danger, because they don’t have huge security teams in place.”
Businesses have been warned that even if it is only one out of a number of systems that has been infected following a cyber attack action still needs to be taken, as otherwise it could result in the firm’s IP address being blacklisted, which could seriously affect business communications and operations.
