Many spent Christmas Day shopping

Dec 29 2010 / By Rob Webber

Following a recent report showing that many self employed workers and managers would be working for at least a few hours from home on Christmas Day many broadband users will have spent time online doing their shopping on the big day.

It was recently announced by Demon Broadband that many self employed workers and managers would be spending at least a few hours of Christmas Day getting online at home to do some work. Remote access from the office has made it easier for people to work on days when they would normally not have been able to access their work.

However, it has also been claimed that many broadband users spent some time on Christmas Day online for other reasons rather than work. Whilst managers and self employed people may feel obliged to some degree to get online and at least check emails and respond to message, there are many people that would have chosen to spend some time online for their own reasons.

Many people will have spent time online to use social networking sites so that they could wish friends Merry Christmas, talk about presents, chat about what they were doing or what they had done, and keep in touch with their friends or family members.

There are also said to have been many people seeking retail therapy who got online on Christmas Day, many of whom wanted to get to the sales before the sales officially started on Boxing Day. For many, spending a few hours online picking up bargains from retailers who had already set up their online sales was a very productive way to spend time and save money.

People should turn their broadband connections of on Christmas day, it’s a bit sad that all these internet addicts can’t atleast take one day a year off from their beloved broadband.
