Linksys advises that wireless networks in the home are very popular

A recent survey released by Linksys called “Connected Life Consumer Tends Survey” was conducted to show the state of wireless home networking in the current marketplace throughout the country.

The survey was performed using YouGov and shows that of all the users within the UK who currently have a broadband internet connection at home 59 percent also have a wireless network. It also found that over 25 percent of users in the UK would like to be able to remotely access photos and music.

Also included within the survey were figures showing the type of equipment most people now have in their homes, with 96 percent of online users reporting that they have a PC/Laptop in the home, 69 percent having a digital music player, 57 percent have either a hard disk recorder or DVR/PVR, 53 percent own a games console and 15 percent have a digital photo frame.

Of those surveyed a few are currently using their wireless home network to its full potential. Home network users can connect all their wireless devices together in the house and can share files, surf the web, listen to streaming music, watch HD movies, play games online, and make VoIP calls from any room in the house totally wirelessly.

The survey also found that of those users who wanted to get their personal information throughout their home or when they were away, 37 percent said that they were unable to do so due to lack of technical knowledge, 25 percent indicated that costs were an issue, and 24 percent said that time they expected to take setting it all up. The speed at which broadband access is growing means that for many households there are a lot of changes taking place, and with new wireless technology like Wireless-N being developed the consumer is often left confused with the sheer range of choices made available to them.

Products that are both consumer friendly and also look good are currently the focus for development with Linksys. An example of this is the introduction of a new range of routers (WAG160N and WRT160N) which are easy to use and come with a stylish new design. For ease of user that routers have the Linksys Easylink Advisor (LELA), which makes home networks easier to set-up by helping to ensure network security and manage devices connected to the network. As a personal technology expert, LELA is designed to maximize the accessibility of networks and will allow for network expansion without using terminology and hard to understand terms.
