Kim Dotcom of Megaupload captured in fortress and charged with piracy
Things were not very easy for the police to get the don of internet piracy at his sprawling mansion in New Zealand, when they tried pinning down Kim Dotcom, one of the top executives of the now shut down Megaupload website. Basically a German national, Mr. Dotcom was formerly known as Kim Schmitz and Kim Tim Jim Vestor, tried a lot tricks to avert the police arrest by using a number of electronic locking mechanisms in his mansion, before seeking shelter in a hidden safe room.

The police really had a hard time cutting through the electronic access gates and finding this 6 feet 7 inch tall man, who reportedly made more than $42 million personally from Megaupload during 2010 only.
Though the police found him having a firearm, which, according to the officials looked like a shot gun, no firing is reported and police nabbed him, without suffering any harm to the team members.
After the arrest, footage has shown that several luxury vehicles including a pink Cadillac, a set of Mercedes vehicles collection and Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe were being removed from the mansion campus in trailers as part of confiscation.
Mr. Dotcom has been earlier charged with insider trading and embezzlement in Germany. He had later applied for residency in New Zealand and was approved as resident in 2010. His mansion, located in the hills northwest of Auckland, was one of the most expensive in the country with an estimated value of around NZ$30 million. He has taken it for lease, since New Zealand authorities barred him from buying properties.
Kim Dotcom and other three top executives of Megaupload were arrested on a charge of taking away more than $500 million from copyright holders through the file sharing website and making around $175 million from subscriptions and advertising revenue from the website.
