Kent towns to get high speed broadband in a year
A number of towns in the Kent area are set to be the lucky recipients of super-fast broadband services within the space of a year according to reports.

Many towns and cities across the UK are crying out for higher speed broadband services, especially given the wide range of activities that people carry out online, such as streaming content, downloading, and playing online games, all of which are activities that are bandwidth hungry and require faster speeds.
It has now been reported that several towns in the Kent area are set to be the lucky recipients of super-fast broadband services within the space of a year, thanks to the fibre based expansion being rolled out by communications giant BT. The three towns that have been identified as getting super-fast broadband from BT within the next year are Sheerness, Faversham and Sandwich.
In total forty one market towns will be receiving high speed broadband as a result of this BT expansion of fibre based services, and this means that both residents and businesses in these areas will be able to benefit from improved access and faster speeds.
Gordon Henderson, Sheppey MP, said: “It’s excellent news. If the Sheerness exchange can be at the forefront of access to super-fast broadband, it’s incredibly important to our local economy. It’s not just householders but businesses that can take advantage and on Sheppey most of our industry is based within the Sheerness exchange area so they would be able to improve their competitiveness. My whole thrust is to help our businesses increase the amount of jobs they offer and I think this will help them do that. It’s incredibly good news for us.”

do we know if this will cover the whole of sheppey or just sheerness
I live in Kent and I connect through Farningham exchange – the slowest in the country! 15 miles from London, no cable connection and this is what you get thanks to BT. Superfast – I’d just like normal broadband imstead of being ripped off for rubbish.
I hope that Queenborough Road will be on the list for the “8000 properties” that will benefit from the upgrade
I stayrd at my friend house in Kent and broadband was a joke, barely better than dial-up. Good broadband access should be a basic right for all UK citizens.
