KC will be allowed to offer broadband bundle services

A decision has been made by the UK’s communications regulator, Ofcom, to allow Hull based Internet provider KC, which is the internet arm of telecoms company KCom, to offer broadband bundle services. This comes after the company was told that it could not provide these bundles to residential and business customers because it was classed as having significant market power in the area, where BT has no presence and KCom is the only landline provider in the area.

It was late last week when the regulator decided that it would be allowing KC to offer bundles that include broadband, landline, and other services. Ofcom officials said that the reason behind the change of heart was that it wanted consumers in the area to be able to benefit from the cost savings that would be available from these bundles.

There are a number of conditions said to be attached to the permissions that Ofcom has granted to the Internet service provider, and one of these is a condition that the broadband bundle deals are made available to all residential customers and business customers in the area.

Sean Royce, KC’s commercial and finance director, said that the company was very happy with the decision that Ofcom had reached with regards to the provision of these bundles. He stated: “We are delighted that the regulator has now given us approval to go ahead. Now that we’ve been given approval, we intend to launch bundled services for both businesses and consumers within the next few months.”
