Internet more popular than television
A global study has shown that the majority of people view the Internet has more important than television, with the majority stating that they did not think that they could cope without their broadband or internet service.
For many years a vast number of people across the globe have become attached to their television services, and many would find it difficult to cope without their television service to keep them entertained and up to date. However, the results of a recent global survey have shown that television has now been pipped to the post in terms of popularity with a rising number of people now stating that they would not be able to cope without their broadband or internet service.
The study was carried out by Synovate, and the results showed that across eleven markets seven out of every ten consumers said that they either could not cope without their Internet service or would find it very difficult to cope if they did not have this service. The results show how increasingly reliant consumers have become on this medium, using it for everything from socialising and shopping to working and keeping updated.
One of the purposes of the study was to help marketers determine the best medium for engaging potential customers, which officials have said is a topic that has become more challenging than ever given the number of potential mediums that consumers now have access to, ranging from television, radio, and print media, to home broadband, mobile broadband, and more.
The Internet is seen as a popular medium for marketers in countries where there is a high take up of broadband services and good infrastructure in place, but is not such a good option at present in countries where broadband infrastructure is still in development.
