Increase in households with broadband internet in Northern Ireland

There has been an increase in the number of households in Northern Ireland that have access to broadband internet according to recently released figures.

A report has recently been released by the Central Survey Unit of the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency showing some of the statistics and habits relating to broadband and internet usage amongst households in Northern Ireland. The figures have shown that there has been an increase in the number of households in Northern Ireland that have access to broadband internet services.

According to the date the number of households that now have broadband internet access in Northern Ireland is around fifty one percent, and this reflects an increase of four percent compared to last year. In total around sixty one percent of households in Northern Ireland now have access to the Internet, with nine out of ten now having a broadband connection.

The figures were released in the yearly Continuous Household Survey Bulletin. The report also showed that fifty four percent of people that accessed the internet did this at least once a day. Just under thirty percent of users said that they access the internet several times a week. There was a growing trend to use faster connections to get online in order to access the internet based on the information that was provided in the report.

The survey by the Central Survey Unit of the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency is carried out once a year, and shows trends and statistics in many different areas, in addition to broadband and internet usage, such as smoking habits, alcohol, employment levels, health, and a variety of other areas.
