If you have Virgin Media broadband you will get double the speed for free
We have some good news for Virgin Media broadband users. It’s time for you get a better browsing experience with speeds doubled up, just for free. Virgin Media has decided to beef up its network speed almost double for users under different plans, without asking for any additional payments.

Currently, customers using 10 Mbps service from virgin Media will soon get 20 Mbps while those on 20 Mbps and 30 Mbps will have 60Mbps speed. Those using the 10 Mbps plan make the major share of their customer base in the UK, constituting approximately three-quarters of the total Virgin Media users in the country.
Subscribers on 50 Mbps speed connections on Virgin Media broadband will get 100 Mbps speed after the update and those on 100 Mbps will get 120Mbps, making them the fastest broadband users on the Virgin Media network.
The game is not very easy for the company as they have to cough up approximately £ 110 million to make the upgrade to their existing networks. However, the government has welcomed the decision as the country has put 2015 as the target to have the fastest broadband connections in the Europe.
The process which will start in the February is expected to reach completion in 18 months. However, the change will be unnoticeable for majority of the customers since no additional fee is demanded and the usage limits will be automatically doubled to accommodate the additional usage from increased speed. So set your network speedometers on and feel the change if you want to.
The announcement comes as Virgin Media is facing tough competition from its competitors providing improved transmission speeds to their customers. The move, especially without taxing the customers for additional payment, according to certain market gurus, will help Virgin to appear more appealing in the marketplace.
