The broadband situation is set to change for households in Hull as a result of one communications company in the area installing a fibre optic capable network.

In recent reports from the UK’s communications regulator Ofcom, Hull was an area that amongst the slowest speeds in the UK. This was very disappointment for businesses and residents in the area who are at a distinct disadvantage compared to those that live in areas that have decent broadband speeds.

However, one communications provider that is in the area has recently announced the addition of fibre optic capable networks as part of its broadband infrastructure, which could help to transform the broadband situation for many businesses and residents in the area. The company is KC, which is a local communications company.

Speaking about the transformation, Kevin Walsh, Chief Executive of KC said: “Our fibre deployment is the latest stage of our ongoing work and investment to make sure our customers in Hull and East Yorkshire have access to the very best broadband in the UK. During the past year we’ve upgraded our network and increased its capacity so that the vast majority of our customers can already achieve download speeds that would be the envy of broadband users elsewhere in the UK. Installing fibre is the next stage of our programme and means we’ll be able to meet the needs of the most bandwidth-hungry households today and in the future.”

Will you be benefitting from the upgrade in Hull?
