Home working could be encouraged through faster broadband in Wiltshire
A senior council official has recently highlighted how faster broadband access and services in Wiltshire had the potential to encourage and allow more people to work from home.

Over recent years a rising number of people across the UK have started to enjoy the convenience of working from home on a more regular basis, giving them far more flexibility when it comes to juggling their home and working life. However, the ability of people to do this depends on the quality of the technology that they have access to, with things like high speed broadband playing an important part in allowing people to work from home.
A senior official from Wiltshire Council has recently highlighted how faster broadband in the area could help many more people work from home. This came after the announcement that the county will be getting four million pounds in funding to improve broadband services in the area. Councillor John Thomson said that the improvements would help to enable and encourage more people to work from home.
He said: “We have a huge number of people who love living in Wiltshire but they all work outside Wiltshire so they commute out. If we can encourage them to do more home working and to do that they need the high-speed broadband to access their computer systems in the companies they work for.”
He said that these people would be able to spend more money locally and that traffic on the roads would also be reduced if more people were able to work from home. It will also benefit the workers themselves, as they will be able to avoid having to sit in traffic for hours every day, can cut down on spiralling petrol costs, and can juggle their home and work life more easily and effectively.
Would you be able to work from home with access to faster broadband services?
