High speed broadband could improve online purchasing abilities

Over recent years more and more people have taken to making purchases online. Officials have said that as broadband speeds get faster online purchasing abilities will continue to grow.

Over recent years there has been a continual increase in the number of people that use the internet and get online in order to make purchases. Whilst this method of purchasing goods and services has already become hugely popular it is set to grow as broadband speeds and access improves, according to recent reports.

There are many people that use their home broadband and even their smart phones and mobile internet services in order to make online purchases. Faster speeds with both fixed line services and with mobile, when 4G comes along, could help to further increase the use of online purchases as it will improve people’s ability to access online retailers and facilities.

Recently, Clodagh Murphy, the director of Eclipse Internet, which specialises in business solutions to small and medium-sized enterprises, said that higher speeds would also have a huge positive impact on retailers who wanted to increase their online presence and boost their internet based sales. Those that struggle to get access to adequate broadband speeds are often left out when it comes to using the internet for many things, including making purchases. However, faster speeds could change all this.

Companies such as Virgin Media are already in the throes of providing consumers and businesses with faster and better internet access. The BT broadband rollout will also help to ensure that more people have access to greater speeds.

Would you shop online more if you had access to faster speeds?
