Fibre broadband being embraced by older consumers
Most people do not link technology such as broadband with the older generation but recent reports have shown that older consumers actually appear to be embracing fibre based high speed broadband.

For most people the thought of broadband conjures up images of young teens glues to their smart phones or business people tapping away on their laptops whilst on the go. In fact, there are a number of different images that may spring to mind when you think of broadband technology but the older generation does not tend to be one of them.
However, surprisingly recent reports have shown that older people are actually embracing high speed fibre based broadband technology and many of them are eagerly enjoying the use of social networking facilities – again, something that will come as a surprise to the many who thought that social networking was exclusively for younger people.
One industry official said that older people were using high speed internet and social networking to keep in touch with younger relatives and those living in different parts of the country or even the world. He said: “Facebook is one of the biggest growth areas in [terms of being used by] the older generation. People are now using it to keep in touch with grandchildren and children.”
“It is definitely a growth area – people are getting used to it. There are going to be some die-hards that never want the internet, but at the end of the day you can’t afford not to use it.”
Are you an older consumer who likes to use high speed internet for social networking?
