Fibre based broadband rolled out by Zen
As the UK continues to go mad for high speed broadband services another Internet Service Provider has announced that it is in the process of rolling out higher speed fibre based broadband services.
When it comes to broadband in the UK speed is something that many business and casual users rave about, and there is no doubt that Britain has gone speed mad when it comes to their broadband services. Many of us are after the best speeds possible, partly due to the data-rich activities that many of us perform online, such as streaming movies, downloading music, and playing games.
It has now been announced by another Internet Service Provider that it is in the process of rolling out high speed fibre optic broadband, which will result in another rival for fibre-optic broadband giant Virgin Media, which has been providing fibre based services for years. The announcement has been made by Zen Internet, and will enable consumers to enjoy higher speed services at very reasonable prices.
It is thought that the cost of the fibre based broadband service from Zen will be around five pounds more than its standard ADSL service. It will offer download speeds of up to 40Mbps and offers upload speeds of 15Mbps. The network is going to be operated via the BT fibre optic network infrastructure.
According to reports there are currently twenty four BT exchange areas that have access to this higher speed broadband, but more than one hundred and thirty other areas are set to be upgraded over the remainder of this year. In 2011 a further three hundred exchanges will be upgraded, allowing access to high speed broadband to even more parts of the country.
