Digital District in Birmingham needs to succeed
Officials have recently stated that in order to ensure that businesses in the area do not suffer it is vital that the Digital District in the city of Birmingham succeeds.

Like many other major towns and cities the city of Birmingham, England’s second city next to London, has been bidding to bring superfast broadband to the Digital District of the city. With access to higher speed broadband Birmingham’s businesses will be able to thrive and flourish, with smaller businesses in particular benefitting from the availability of higher speed broadband services.
However, the boss of Digital Birmingham, Raj Mac, who is the driving force behind the bidding, has said that it is crucial that the Digital District succeeds with its bid in order to keep on top of technological advancements. He said that without superfast broadband businesses in the area faced “a strangulation of talent”.
Mac said that if the Digital District of Birmingham did not succeed with its bid for superfast broadband and were unable to get the bandwidths necessary to keep up with technological advancements, many businesses might start turning their backs on the city, which would be a disaster.
He provided examples of some of the companies that were already struggling, such as one firm that was thinking of relocating because the technology in the city was not adequate for its live streaming with the current bandwidth. Another company that he highlighted had to take film and tape to London because the bandwidth was not sufficient to send it digitally.
Are you a Birmingham business that would consider relocating if improvements are not made with regards to Broadband?
