Demand for super-fast broadband still on the rise

More and more people are keen to be able to access higher speed broadband these days, and figures from Virgin Media show that demand for super-fast broadband continues to rise.

These days broadband access has become part and parcel of everyday life for most people, and people are starting to use their broadband services for a wide range of activities, from simply surfing the Internet and looking up information to online gaming, streaming content, and more. Many of these activities require faster broadband speeds, and this is why many people are also now keen to have access to higher speed broadband.

Recently released data from the communications and entertainment giant Virgin Media has reflected the increasing popularity and high demand for super-fast broadband access. The media giant has recently released its financial results, and judging by these it seems that there is a long way to go before the appetite of UK consumers is fulfilled in terms of access to superfast broadband.

There are now 780,000 people that are signed up to Virgin broadband speeds of at least 20Mbps. Many are buying various wireless devices that can hook up to home broadband connections, and this will further drive the need for high speed broadband access.

Virgin Media has become increasingly popular amongst those that want high speed broadband access because of its innovation when it comes to super-fast fibre based broadband services. The 100Mbps service came to the market in 2010, proving a hit with those that use the Internet for a range of purposes.

Do you think that the UK has developed more of an appetite for superfast broadband? Let us know with your comments
