Cyber security champions being sought
Over recent years cyber security issues have become a big risk for the UK and other countries. The UK is now searching for cyber security champions to help defend the nation’s networks.

Most broadband and internet users will know how it feels to be wary about viruses and scams that can affect them when they are online, often putting all of the information that they have on their hard drives at risk. However, this is something that the government has to deal with on a much larger scale, with the threat of cyber security attacks becoming ever greater.
In a bid to try and tackle this issue the government is after cyber security champions, who have the knowledge and skill to protect the nation’s networks against attacks that could potentially be hugely damaging. The champions are being sought as part of the Cyber Security Challenge, which is now in its second year.
Those that enter into the competition are put through their paces with a range of online and face to face challenges that will test their skills and knowledge when it comes to network security. For those that win the challenges there are a number of prizes that are handed out, including training courses and cash that would enable them to pursue a career in computer security.
The first winner of the challenge, and the first cyber security champion, was actually a postman from Wakefield, who walked away with £6000 worth of prizes. He said that he was looking at giving up his postman job and going back into IT, which is an area he had worked in previously before becoming a postman.
