The Country Land and Business Association have recently stated that the countryside need more support from politicians when it comes to a variety of issues including broadband access.

The general election is fast approaching and the major political parties that are in the running when it comes to getting into power have been using various strategies to try and get people onside, and the area of broadband has become an important one in terms of trying to win votes.

Officials from the Country Land and Business Association have now said that they want to see politicians do more to aid the courtside when it comes to other issues in addition to broadband. Whilst lack of access to this technology means that residents and business, as well as the countryside itself, is suffering the CLA welcomed proposals by the Labour government recently to try and tackle this issue. This digital divide has caused concern for some time, and the CLA has been pushing for action to be taken.

The CLA wants all political parties to take more of an interest in solving other problems in rural areas, and the association has developed its own proposals which is wants the next government to look into. The president of the association, William Worsley, said that the CLA had outlined some of the key issues that the next government needed to look into in order to try and address problems in the countryside.

Worsley said that the incoming government still needed to ensure there were provisions for the implementation of high speed broadband in the countryside, stating: “The next government must rise to meet the twin challenges of securing both food production and the environmental benefits that land management provide.”
