According to a recent report the local authority in the city of Hull is aiming to turn the city into a digital one through a new and innovative project. Hull City Council is said to be working on the project, which is designed to improve access to broadband services across the city as well as improving broadband services for residents and businesses in the city.
Council officials are said to be keen to turn Hull into a digital city, and the aim is to do this through the improvement of broadband services and access. The goal is to make next generation broadband available to as many residents and businesses as possible in the city. A partnership agreement is underway to try and get the project sorted out.
The area already has a broadband access scheme that is running in schools in the area, and this is proving to be a success according to officials. The new project will be building on this ongoing project, making broadband access more widely accessible. An official from Hull City Council said that the city did not want to get left behind as the rest of the country began to enjoy improved digital and broadband services.
He stated that the issue had now become one that needed to be addressed urgently. “There is a consensus in the city that digital connectivity, and the infrastructure that supports it, is a key issue that needs to be addressed.” It is widely recognised that improved broadband access can lead to improvements in the economy as well as improvements for residents and businesses. It could also result in job creations, which would further help the economy.
