Council starts survey to learn more about broadband access
A local authority in England has decided to start a survey that will show them what broadband access is like across the county and will highlight any issues that are present with regards to the matter.

Broadband access in England can vary widely from one county to another, and there are many people that live in areas where getting adequate broadband access is still a problem despite improved technology and pressure from campaign groups and authorities for broadband access to be improved.
One local authority has now decided to launch a survey to try and find out more about broadband access in the area and to try and determine what sorts of issues are present in the area when it comes to broadband access. The survey has been launched by Derbyshire County Council, with officials stating that it is a well known fact that some parts of the county did not have adequate broadband services, particularly more rural areas.
Council officials are hoping that the survey will help them to learn how serious the broadband access problems in some parts of the county actually are, and as part of the survey residents will be given the opportunity to complete a survey that asks them about how their level of broadband access impacts their personal and business lives.
One council official said: “You would imagine that in this day and age everyone is surfing the internet. But across Derbyshire there are still people, particularly those who live in rural areas, who cannot receive a broadband service – or, if they can, the service is patchy at best. I would encourage as many as possible to take time to fill in the questionnaire.”

i live in Hadfield, Glossop in Derbyshire, after years of trying i am only able to get half MB dowload speed, 1 mb was tried before with but all internet shut down so we reduced back to halfmb speed.
if i look online i am told we can get anything up to 3mb dependant on who you talk to, but noone can provide this. why do we have to pay for services we are unable to get, for example if i lived in manchester/stockport and even motram (5 mins away) we could get up to 10 times faster not just 2 times faster than dial up?
