Could you manage without your broadband connection?
It is easy to forget just how reliant we have become on broadband and Internet, but this has been reflected in a recent study where the majority of Brits said that they felt deprived and upset when they were unable to go online.

These days we have the Internet pretty much anywhere we go. At home we have our fixed line and wireless broadband services, at work many of us have access to the Internet via our smart phones, and even on holiday most of us take along our various internet enabled devices so that we can get online wherever and whenever we want to.
It is easy to forget just how reliant we have become on broadband and Internet technology over the years, but this reliance has been reflected in a recent study, which showed that the majority of Brits feel upset, deprived and even lonely when they are unable to get online and access the Internet.
The study was carried out by Intersperience, a consumer research company, and more than one thousand people aged between eighteen and sixty five were polled as part of the project. The results of the study found that fifty three percent of Brits felt deprived when they were denied access to the Internet and around forty percent said that they experienced loneliness.
An official involved in the research stated: “Online and digital technology is increasingly pervasive. Our ‘Digital Selves’ research shows how just dominant a role it now assumes, influencing our friendships, the way we communicate, the fabric of our family life, our work lives, our purchasing habits and our dealings with organisations.”
