Cost now main reason for switching broadband providers
According to a recent report the number one reason for switching broadband providers has swung from reliability to price
There are many reasons why people decide to switch broadband providers, and up until recently the number one reason for switching was the reliability – or lack thereof – of the Internet Service Provider. However, over recent months the global credit crunch and rising living costs have been biting hard on household budgets, and this, at least in part, has resulted to switch, with the number one reason for changing broadband providers not being the cost rather than reliability.
According to a recent report the top reason for changing broadband provider changed from reliability to price between April and June of this year. Reliability has now become the third most common reason to switch providers, with the second now being the ability to bundle services – phone, broadband, and television.
In fact, there are many reasons why people decide to switch providers these days, and the report lists the top five reasons for making this move. The first, as mentioned, is the cost of the service, the second the ability bundle services into one package, and the third the reliability of the service. In fourth place was the level of customers service received from the broadband provider, with many switching because they receive poor service or cannot get through to the call centre when needed.
In fifth place was the ability to upgrade from a dial up connection to a broadband connection, and some customers who now find that they can get broadband from another provider decide to switch from their existing dial up Internet Service Provider.
The data comes from a recent study where industry professionals talked to over one thousand customers who were looking to switch, and surveyed their reasons for wishing to move over a three month period.
