Consumers want broadband providers to promote upload speeds

A recent survey has revealed that the vast majority of broadband customers in the UK are keen to see Internet Service Providers promote upload speeds more actively.

Anyone that is used to purchasing broadband plans and services will know that most Internet Service Providers are eager to promote the download speed that comes with the broadband service, as they know that this is something that consumers look at when making a decision over which broadband service and provider to choose.

However, when it comes to promoting and advertising upload speeds Internet Service Providers put nowhere near as much emphasis on the information, almost pushing it into the background. It has now been revealed that many consumers want to see this change and are keen to see providers more actively promote their upload speeds as well as download speeds.

Over five hundred broadband users in the UK were polled as part of a survey and the results showed that a massive ninety three percent wanted to see providers put more effort into promoting their upload speeds. Half of those involved in the survey said that upload speeds were a very important consideration when choosing a broadband plan and provider.

One official said: “Anybody looking at the modern broadband ISP market could easily be forgiven for thinking that download speed was the only practical or important measure of internet access performance. But what might have been true a few years ago is now no longer relevant.”

Do you think upload speeds are as important as download speeds when purchasing a broadband plan?
