An official has recently reiterated the importance of having broadband access for businesses and towns, stating that lack of access can cause severe problems for consumers and businesses.

Most people are aware of the many benefits that having broadband access and adequate broadband speeds can provide to both general consumers and businesses these days. One official has recently reiterated the importance of adequate broadband access in UK towns, stating that it is an essential service both for consumers in the areas as well as for businesses.

According to Alan Moseley, Chair of the Shropshire Council Scrutiny Committee, many towns are severely disadvantaged as a result of poor broadband access. He took time to speak about the disadvantages that businesses in particular can face due to poor broadband services and coverage, and said that in order for businesses to do well towns needed to have improved broadband access and services.

He said that it was essential for businesses to have access to adequate broadband in this day and age in order for them to be both successful and competitive, and that those that did not have this access would experience real difficulties in terms of their business dealings and processes. He said “We were not just concerned with access but with speeds too, as this is vital, particularly for many businesses.”

He was speaking after the communications giant BT said that it was going to include forty one market towns in the next phase of its fibre based broadband rollout, which would see businesses and residents in those areas being able to access higher speed, more reliable broadband services.
