Businesses enjoying faster, cheaper broadband
According to a recent report there are now many businesses in the UK that are enjoying faster, cheaper broadband services, with prices in the market being pushed down in the first half of this year.
According to a recent report the price of business broadband services in the UK have been falling whilst the speeds have been rising, which means that some businesses are able to enjoy faster, cheaper broadband, which is vital in particular for small and medium sized businesses that may be trying to recover following the recession.
The claim is made by the firm Analysys Mason, which recently released figures relating to business broadband services. The firm said that the average price of business broadband services fell across Europe in the first six months of this year, and the speed of the service increased in this same period. The figures related to fixed line business broadband services.
Officials from Analysys Mason said that it was mainly increased competition in the market that resulted in prices being pushed down, and prices are said to have fallen by around eight percent. At the same time average speeds are said to have increased by almost twenty percent, with twenty percent of providers offering download speeds of 30Mbps or more.
This research followed research by the UK’s communications regulator, Ofcom, which said that the average broadband speed in the UK was now 5.2Mbps. Whilst prices for the higher speed services are said to have fallen those that want higher speeds are still having to pay the price, with the price difference for higher speed broadband coming in at nearly 25 percent more.
