Businesses could benefit from Tory broadband plans

February 8th, 2010 by Richard

According to a recent report businesses in the UK could benefit from plans by the Tory party to roll out 100Mbps broadband services by 2017.

The Tory party recently stood up to plans from the Labour government by stating that by 2017 it planned to launch broadband access to around ninety percent of the nation, offering speeds of around 100Mbps. It has now been claimed that if the plans of the Tory party do go ahead businesses across the UK could enjoy multiple benefits from these plans being put into place.

Following the announcement from the Tory party one industry expert said that businesses in many different sectors would be able to benefit from the plans and the improved technology. He said: “ll sectors can benefit from this level of bandwidth. Businesses can benefit from easier communication and users benefit from new services so far not even available.”

He added: “This would mean potentially unlimited entertainment on demand - 3D and HD services without limit. However … “the majority” is a phrase that can hide dangers – greater capacity to some may result in [lesser] services [for others], thus exacerbating the differences between the internet have and have-nots.”

There has been a great deal of controversy with regards to high speed broadband, and amongst the areas that have been at the centre of debate are whether or not the broadband illegal piracy plans that have been put into place by the government could end up penalising innocent people as a result of illegal hacking into wireless broadband connections.
