Business broadband portfolio expanded by Easynet Connect
A fibre-optic broadband connection at a fixed price has been launch recently by broadband service provider Easynet Connect and small and medium businesses will be the area it will currently be concentrating its attention.
In order for the Internet Service Provider (ISP) to offer the service to over 70 percent of businesses in the UK it will be beginning a major local-loop unbundling project at about 1200 of its exchanges throughout the country.
By the end of this year as many as 50 exchanges will be completed in the first phase of its L Local Access Leased Line deployment, and compared to other fibre Ethernet products that are currently being marketed Easynet have claimed that the new service will cost customers half as much.
Managing director of Easynet connect, Chris Stening said “Local Access Leased Line will definitely help bring next-generation broadband to more small businesses without breaking the bank. The increased bandwidth can open up new opportunities to thousands of businesses, especially many who could not previously access high-speed internet.”
With around 6030km of fibre cabling currently laid Easynet Connect, which is a part of the BskyB group, has the UK’s second largest network.
Stening added “According to our latest research, one in five small businesses see the internet as the most important tool to help them survive the recession, and around half of companies are looking to launch new products and services over the web. Similarly, the increase in remote working, the use of cloud computing and video conferencing is putting greater demands on small businesses’ web connections, so it is important that small businesses, wherever they are based, can get access to the best value and quality connections.”
Due to the dependency on a number of details including location and the number of users no exact pricing could be confirmed on the new product.
