Broadband users in the UK becoming more aware about speeds

It has been claimed by a broadband industry expert that broadband users in the UK are becoming more aware about the importance of speeds and more educated about how to improve their speeds.

There are a number of different areas that consumers and businesses tend to look at when they are taking out a broadband internet service, and one of the most important factors for many people is the average speed that comes with the broadband service. The speed of the service can affect the capabilities that the user will have when using the service and can make a big difference to the overall performance of the service.

One broadband industry expert has stated recently that consumers in the UK are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of higher broadband speeds, and the benefits that higher speed broadband can bring to the home or business. The industry official described the consumers of today as ‘hugely speed aware’ and said that many took the time to test their own broadband speeds through a number of websites and channels to determine what the actual speed they were getting was.

He also said that people were looking to get more information on how they could further improve their broadband speeds, and as a result consumers were getting more educated with regards to what could affect their internet speed and how they could change this. Wider access to fibre based high speed broadband, he said, would further increase interest in this area.

The various purposes for which consumers these days are using their broadband has affected their interest in the speeds that they are achieving according to the expert, who stated: “As people consume more and more rich media via their broadband connection speed becomes their top priority.”
