A recent study has found that broadband performance in the UK is better than that in the US, with the UK beating the US in the rankings
Whilst concerns have been expressed over the past year with regards to the broadband service in the UK, with officials concerned that the UK does not embrace the advanced technology to allow broadband to advance into the future, a recent study has shown that broadband performance in the UK has been ranked higher than in the United States.
According to a recent report the United States came fifteenth out of the thirty nations assessed for Organisations for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The UK enjoyed a spot just above the United States, coming in thirteenth on the rankings table.
The reports detailing the study into global broabdand performance came from the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF). Following the release of the resultied the ITIF is urging industry officials in the United States to form a national broadband strategy, and to look at best practices used by other governments and nations. It wants the United States to look at increasing access to broadband and boosting demand for the service.
One official from the ITIF stated: ‘While we shouldn’t look to other nations for silver bullets, or assume that practices in one nation will automatically work in another, we can and should look to broadband best practices in other nations.’
A number of factors were considered for the rankings on thbe broadband tables, and this included the cost of a monthly package, the average downloans speeds, and the penetration rate.
