Broadband makes Cornwall a recruitment hotspot

It has been reported that Cornwall has been chosen as a recruitment hotspot by a company looking for people to work from home and this is thanks to its broadband connections.

According to a recent report Cornwall has found itself being chosen as a recruitment hotspot by a company that is looking to recruit many people to work from home. The reason that this is thought to have happened is because of the area’s broadband connections, which have made it a pretty obvious choice for a company that wants people that have the facilities and technology to be able to operate and work from home.

An international business, Arise Virtual Solutions, is looking to recruit around one thousand people to work from home according to reports. In some areas of the UK this would be an impossible task because the low quality of the broadband services and connections in the area would have made it impossible for people to have conducted businesses effectively from their homes.

However, one official from the company, who was born and schooled in various areas of Cornwall, said that it was the obvious choice now because of its excellent broadband connectivity amongst other things. He stated: “We don’t currently have anyone in the South West west of a line between Bristol and Dorset. Because Cornwall has such great broadband connections, the indications are that the vast majority of people will be coming from the county.”

One Truro MP added: “The great benefit of Arise’s model is that with a minimum 20 hours per week commitment, people who are based at home with caring responsibilities for children, a disabled person or an older person can also work. I also often meet people with disabilities that really want to work but mobility issues make it difficult for them to travel to work.”
