Brits get on broadband to get their bargains
In years gone by taking advantage of the post Christmas sales meant battling your way through the High Street trying to dodge all the other bargain hunters. However, this year many people have used their broadband service to help them get some great bargains without even leaving the comfort of their own home.
This year, as with recent years, many people have managed to take advantage of the High Street sales without having to even set foot outside the home and struggle to get through the crowds of bargain hunters that want to be the first through the doors of the shops. This is because many savvy bargain hunters have decided to get online to benefit from the sales.
With the popularity of online shopping increasing many major retailers are trying to get into the action by launching their sales online, sometimes ahead of the High Street sales. Many retailers launched their sales even before Christmas Day, which meant that consumers were able to sit in the comfort and warmth of their own homes and still hunt for bargains.
It is likely that over the next few days consumers that do not want to battle it out on the High Street, and those that have work or family commitments that would stop them from hitting the High Street, will continue to use their broadband connections in order to try and get some great deals on a wide range of items.
One industry official said: “Last year Christmas Day was the seventh busiest online day of the year for online retailers, while Boxing Day was the busiest. Over the last few years the importance of these two days has been increasing, and we see no reason for it to be any different this Christmas. We have already seen that shoppers are willing to hold out longer for a bargain this year, with ‘Cyber Monday’ moving a week closer to Christmas. This behaviour is likely to carry through to the post-Christmas period, with people logging on after Christmas lunch to find the best discounts before hitting the high street and shopping malls the following day.”
