It has been suggested in a recent report that residents in the Bournemouth area now have access to the fastest broadband speeds in the UK.

The speed of their broadband service is something that is extremely important to most consumers and businesses, as it can really affect their capabilities when it comes to the digital world. Many people are unable to achieve adequate speeds for their needs, which can cause a huge problem. However, a recent report has claimed that residents in Bournemouth could now be enjoying access to the fastest speeds available in the UK. The data was taken from research to compile a list of the top ten fastest broadband areas, with Bournemouth coming top of that list.

One broadband industry group said that the average broadband download speed that was being enjoyed in this town was over 8Mbps, which is the highest that is available in the UK. Portsmouth was found to be enjoying the second fastest average download speed, which came in at 7.82Mbps, and Dudley came in third, with an average speed of 7.03Mbps.

A couple of larger cities also made it into the top ten fastest broadband speed areas, with Manchester and Birmingham taking eight and ninth place in the rankings. However, London came in at a rather unimpressive fifteenth on the list, with average download speeds of 6.63Mbps.

An official involved with the research stated: “It just goes to show that people in big cities like London and Birmingham aren’t necessarily getting the UK’s best internet speeds and people definitely need to shop around to make sure they are getting the best experience and value.”
