Bingo players can learn to get online at Mecca

Jun 9 2011 / By William Harvey

It has been reported that Bingo giant Mecca has agreed to sign up to the Race Online 2012 initiative, enabling people that visit their bingo clubs for a game of bingo to also learn how to use the Internet.

The government initiative to get everyone online one way or another by the time the 2012 Olympic Games come around is called the Race Online 2012 initiative. The government has been calling on various retailers and companies to help out with the initiative by helping some of the many people that have never used the internet to get online and start learning about the web and the wide range of possibilities that it offers.

One company that has agreed to get involved with the initiative is Mecca Bingo, which will be giving all of its bingo players the chance to enjoy learning how to get online and surf the Internet in between games. There are millions of people that have never used the Internet and do not have broadband and internet at home, but these are the people that are missing out on many benefits including big savings on a range of services and goods each year.

There will be people on hand at the Mecca halls to help those that are still getting used to the Internet and need a helping hand. With many older people frequenting bingo halls the training could result in the number of silver surfers in the UK soaring, as more and more people realise the ease and benefits of getting online.

A spokesperson for Mecca said that those that decided to try out the training would be surprised at how much they were missing out on by not using the Internet.
