Assembly government cuts state grants for businesses to fund broadband
According to a recent report the Assembly government has decided to cut the state grant for businesses in order to plough more money into broadband and improving the economy.
Many industry officials have pointed out the importance of accessible and affordable broadband when it comes to improving the economy, with many keen to see the ongoing expansion of broadband services in order to result in improvements in the economy and increased fairness for businesses and residents that experience difficulties in getting broadband access.
It has now been announced by the Assembly Government in Wales that state grants for businesses will be cut in order to increase the funding available for the rollout of broadband, improvements to infrastructure, and ultimately improvements to the economy, which has struggled upwards having reached a particularly period over recent years.
There will be cuts in Assembly Government civil servants in addition to this in order to increase funding for broadband. Officials have said that it was currently too early to determine how many jobs would be lost but have confirmed that difficult decisions will have to be made in order to release funding.
Mr Jones, the Plaid Cymru leader, said: “It’s where the market isn’t likely to deliver that we will need to step in. But let’s be honest, the performance of the Welsh economy hasn’t met all of our high expectations.’’ Officials have said that the aim of the move is to create a more sustainable economy in Wales and make it “one of the best places in the world to live, to work and to thrive”.
