Ad software is something Phorm says it has total confidence in

According to the latest reports from Phorm, the Internet tracking technology company, the deployment of its highly controversial advertising software is currently making “good progress”

Despite its recent failure to secure contracts with two of the larger broadband providers in the UK, TalkTalk and BT, the company, which targets users with selective advertising by using its technology to track the sites they have visited, has said that it remains “optimistic” regarding its future.

Following significant investment into both the development of products like Webwise Discover and the business itself, Phorm posted pre-tax losses of $15 million (£9.3 million) for the six month leading up to June 30th, which compared to previous losses of 24.7 million ( £15.3 million).

The leading broadband service provider in Korea, KT has formed a partnership with Phorm and they are now in the final stages of market trials according to the company.

The company was also making “excellent progress” in a number of counties around the world and are currently in talks with more than 15 global markets said Kent Ertugrul, Phorm’s chief executive. In order to improve and refine its Webwise Discover technology Mr Ertugrul advise that his company had been working closely with a number of Internet Service Providers (ISPs).

July saw Phorm suffer a huge setback when an agreement with Carphone Warehouse’s TalkTalk fell through and BT announced that it currently had no plans to make use of its software.

Although trials had previously been carried out by BT, it said that its primary aim at present was to concentrate on developing its next generation broadband services and that it would not be using its software at the moment.

BT was, however, still being advised of any developments made in the international markets said Phorm, which added that behavioural advertising, include Phorm was still being looked at by Virgin Media.
