AAISP pleased with initial results from broadband trial
Many providers decide to hold trials for their services first before pushing through with them on a larger scale. For one, this will help them determine the demand for their services, as well as the average requirement for each household or establishment. It will also allow these ISPs to determine if the project would be feasible if they pushed through with it or not.
For example, BT Broadband offered firms in Milton Keynes free broadband trials last December 2011, although the offer was limited only to business establishments. Also last December, JT Global also offered a free trial in Jersey, where over 500 homes and businesses were able to take advantage of their superfast broadband offers.

Service provider Andrews & Arnold also held their own trials and have now revealed that they are very pleased with the results. The firm conducted a trial for their 80Mbps FTTC broadband services. Participants in their trial reported at being able to reach speeds between 57Mb and 79.7Mb per second. Aside from that, upload speeds of up to 20Mb were reached.
Adrian Kennard, Director at AAISP, commented that the trials were “not going badly.” He stated: “The lines are syncing up at nice high rates, and the rates are correctly coming through to us. Seems a few minor teething troubles getting the profiles right in the middle somewhere – but this is a technical trial, so not at all surprising.”
