A new trial for business customers of Easynet will soon be underway to allow users to access speeds of up to 40Mbps over the copper wire network it already has in place.
An announcement was made by the Broadband provider Easynet Connect that it would be using its existing copper wire network to start offering access speeds of as high as 40Mbps.

There will be 1200 exchanges ready for the trial and Small and medium businesses who are up to a 1km from them will be the first of Easynet Connect’s customers to be able to sign up for this trial. The broadband provider this move “represents a breakthrough for small to medium sized businesses which would previously have been unable to afford such high data speeds through a leased-line or fibre connection”.

The backbone of the 20Mbps service used by Easynet Connect will also be used for the new broadband service but it will double its current top speed by creating uncontended, symmetrical connections that use higher frequencies to transmit data.

The managing director of Easynet Connect, Chris Stening said “By continuing to push the boundaries of what copper networks can deliver, we are able to bring the very best internet connectivity to as many businesses as possible. Achieving 40Mb proves that with the right technology and innovation, copper-based networks can deliver the quality of internet connection which UK businesses demand and deserve. Businesses are increasingly reliant upon their internet connection.”

The service installation will be much faster than many of the equivalent service with pledge made by Easynet to complete it within 30 days of purchase for its eligible customers.

The product director for a well known comparison site, Michael Phillips said “This is great news for small and medium businesses within reach of Easynet Connect’s exchanges. High speed internet connections and dedicated business broadband packages are becoming increasingly important for competition, and an offer like this could give eligible companies a real edge over their rivals.”
