i'm with talktalk and my download is 1mb and upload is 0.3/4mb. why on earth is this country so lacking in good quality internet connection yet broadbands companies rake in the money and get away with advertising "super-fast broadband". A complete laughing stock, and when your getting owned on xbox live by americans because your connection sucks it just not fair!

What is happening is that they are overselling the product. If the exchange gives 80% or 6Mps during off peak and only .2kps on peak then there are too many customers. It is that simple. It is a outrage that we are locked into 12 month contracts in what amounts to a con trick. When is the regulating body going to put a stop to it.

I think providers should only be allowed to advertise their average speed provided over the last 12 months, not "up to" speeds, as they are virtually unobtainable. I'm with BT, which is slug like, and tonight - as usual - I'm not even getting a quarter of the 8mb "up to" they boast about.

Try O2.. The speed never seems to change. I get 3.5mb download & 1mb upload. They are great to deal with. I moved from orange & I agree they are the worst company I have ever dealt with.

Orange are perhaps the most revolting of company's to deal with. The max speed in my area is 2mb apparently, but Orange increase it to that speed for a couple of days when I complain. Then, every time, they reduce it to a pathetic 250-500k a couple of days afterwards.

Orange are by far the worst company I've ever, ever had to deal with.

I'll be switching to Be the second my contract runs out.

Recently upgraded from 2mb to 8mb and wondered why I saw little if any speed improvement. Then I started testing my actual speed and was shocked to see my average download speed is less than 2Mb! Whats the point of upgrading? Its such a con and all this "Fast 8MB Connection" guff is misleading us all! As for Toucan.... they seem to be the slowest of all and I'll probably leave them soon

Im with BT and both their customer service and website state that "I will receive 3MB". Not you might, YOU WILL.
I have had no other problems with them but I am receiving 1.2MB whilst they do their "tests" after I phoned up.
They say that I might not get anything better, even though my neighbour is receiving 2.3MB as standard.
1.2MB for £24.99 a month.. Not on
